BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
HISTORICAL COMMISSION

Harrison Township was formed in 1827 and became a charter township government November 13, 1978.  There have been several attempts to establish a port city on the shores of Lake Saint Clair.  Click the link to read more about the "Lost Cities" in a report prepared and presented by the Historical Commission.  If you are interested in the story of the first settlers in the area, please click the following link and read about "The Legacy of William Tucker" .

The Historical Commission meets the third Wednesday of each month in the Tucker Senior center at 7:00 PM.  The commission's current projects include the restoration of the old Town Hall and the collection of old photographs and memorabilia.  If you have a photo or two or more that you think belong in the historical collection, call Linda Karczewski at 463-1754.

Slefridge to Mount Clemens Bus
Historical commissioner, Beverly Tromley, provided this picture of her grandfather, Ira Fuller.  He drove the bus that took the soldiers from Selfridge to and from Mount Clemens so they could enjoy their free time.

Donald McKillop and his sister, Patricia, were just kids posing for a picture.  How many families have a photo similar to this in their family albums?  Thanks to historical commissioner, Barbara Urban, this one of her mother and uncle will be preserved for future generations of Harrison Township families.
