Notice of Application For Firefighter/Medic* Two-Year Eligibility List
The Charter Township of Harrison Civil Service Commission will conduct a two (2) part test for the purpose of preparing a two-year eligibility list to be used for the hiring of full time firefighters.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Valid Drivers License.
Applicant must have proof of the following:
State of placeStateMichigan Certification as Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations Level and Michigan Paramedic License and if considered for employment, said license must still be current.
All applicants shall be subjected to a rigorous physical, vision test, and a written and oral board test, as mandated by the Charter Township of Harrison Civil Service Commission.
Weight and height in proportion (minimum and maximum)
Education - High School (G.E.D.)
Must pass background investigation check to be eligible for hire.
Must be a citizen of the placecountry-regionUnited States.
Any applicant having some type of difficulty taking test must designate such at the time of turning in application.
Applicants passing written test will be notified of time and place for oral exam.
Each examinee must attain minimal scores of 70 in both the written and the oral sections of the test to be considered as a successful applicant. The average of the written and oral scores, when added together shall determine the final score for the applicants.
Applications are available at the Office of the Clerk in the Charter Township of
Harrison located at 38151 L'Anse Creuse Road in Harrison Township between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday though Friday, (closed for lunch from 12:30-1:30) or call (586) 466-1406 beginning Monday, May 4, 2009. There will be a $40.00 processing fee, payable at time of turning in the application.
Applications must be on file in the Office of the Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009.

Duties
To provide a civil service system based upon examination and investigation as to merit, efficiency, and fitness for appointment, employment, and promotion of all full-time paid members appointed in the fire department.
