WATER AND SEWER DEPARTMENT

The Harrison Township Water & Sewer Department staff work year-round to provide quality water to residents and businesses. In addition to mandatory testing, we perform other tests for hundreds of additional substances and microscopic organisms to ensure our water is safe and of the highest quality. SANITARY SEWER BACK – UP GUIDELINES
Call the Water & Sewer Department at 586-466-1425 during normal business hours (8am-4:30pm, closed for lunch 12:30pm-1:30pm), or call the after hours emergency number at 586-468-4155 after normal business hours, weekends, and holidays. A representative of the department will respond to determine if the sewer main is blocked. The Township is responsible for the cleaning of any blockage in the sewer main only. The homeowner/resident is responsible for the cleaning/removing of any blockage in the sewer lead from the building up to the sewer main.

In compliance with Public Act 222, if you experience an overflow or backup of the sewage disposal system, you must file a written claim with Harrison Township within 45 days after the overflow or back – up was discovered. Failure to provide the required notice will prevent recovery of damages.

ABOUT OUR SYSTEM
The Harrison Township Water Department provides drinking water to approximately 29,000 people from a master meter pit.  The Township delivers approximately 2.5 million gallons per day.  Harrison Township is supplied with water from the Lake Huron Water Plant and Northeast Water Treatment Plant, which are operated and owned by the City of Detroit, it should be noted that approximately 80 customers are supplied by the City of Mt. Clemens Water Treatment Plant located in Harrison Township.
