Township Trustee Bill Servial
Bill Servial came from a blue collar household in Detroit. After graduating from Pershing High in Detroit, Bill began working for the City of Detroit while attending class in the evening at the Detroit Institute of Technology. Bill then moved on to working for Chrysler Corp while attending classes at South Macomb Community College, then MCCC after their first campus was opened. Work and school were interrupted by the draft board. Bill was trained as a Military Policeman, serving 14 months in Vietnam. After leaving the Army Bill worked for a pharmaceutical company in Detroit while attending classes at MCCC in their applied technology school. Bill also spent 3 years working at a local marina as a shipwright/mechanic.
Bill then formed a construction company after obtaining licensing from the State of Michigan. Bill is now a retired home builder after designing and constructing many homes and additions in Harrison Township and elsewhere over a career spanning more than 40 years.
Bill did find time to be involved in workings of local government, serving multiple appointments as listed below.
- Cable committee 2002 – presently serving as Chair for most of that time
- Zoning Board of Appeals- 2006-2017
- Housing Board of appeals 2006- 2015
- Economic Development Corporation 2009 – Present, currently the Chair
Bill married Amy in 1975. They have two successful sons, Bill IV and Michael. Both sons attended L’Anse Creuse schools K-12 and went on to advanced degrees. Bill and Amy built their first of two homes in Harrison Township in 1978. Bill and Amy fully intend to spend their remaining days in Harrison Township in their current home. Harrison is our adopted home.
In Retirement both Bill and Amy, who is currently serving on the L’Anse Creuse School Board as President, are working toward the improvement of the township and the school District.
