Harrison Township Beautification Commission

The Beautification Commission meets the fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 at the Tucker Senior Center, 26980 Ballard, Harrison Township, Michigan, 48045.  The Beautification Commission maintains 17 gardens in the township through volunteers.  We plant the boat at our entry sign, the pots at Veterans garden, the pots at the library and at the township and library entry doors.  We initiate and plan and plant new gardens. Our annual projects include a litter clean-up the Saturday before Earth Day (April 21) from 9-12.  We hold a plant exchange the first Saturday in June at the Tucker Senior Center parking lot from 12-2.  During the month of July, we distribute 350 resident recognition signs for Great Gardening.  On the 4^th Saturday in July we hold a garden tour showcasing Harrison Township resident gardens that runs from 9-4.  We plan the Veterans Memorial program at 1:00 held at Rosso Hall and the Veterans Garden the Saturday before Veterans Day (Nov. 11).  Through our sculpture donation program, we strive to raise funds for community sculpture as often as possible.  We distribute recognition signs for Outstanding Holiday Lights in December. Donations are being taken for the Beautification Commission for the next community sculpture to beautify and identify our township as an art community.  Sculptures make cultural experiences accessible to all. They draw residents, businesses and visitors. They tell our story and unify us all.  Art is a universal language that inspires us and draws us together where we live, work, & play.
