Hepatitis A Outbreak in Southeast Michigan

Macomb County, as well as other southeast Michigan communities, are experiencing an outbreak of hepatitis A infections. Since August 2016, over 200 hepatitis A cases have been reported in the county, and nearly 700 cases in southeast Michigan (as of January 31, 2018). Macomb County typically sees about six cases a year.

A common source of the outbreak has not been identified. The Health Department is working with many community partners to combat the spread of the virus.  Please review the information below to see how everyone can help take small actions that will help control the spread of hepatitis A infection.

Let's Move Festival of Races
The Let's Move Festival of Races will feature a Half Marathon, Better Half 10k (Run from Lake St. Clair Metropark to Downtown Mount Clemens), 5k Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run. Half Marathon, 5k, and 1 Mile will start on Gratiot just south of Market. The Better Half 10k will start in Lake St. Clair Metropark and is limited to a field of 300! All races to finish on Market Street in Front of Buffalo Wild Wings.  To register visit www.letsmovefestivalofraces.com. Due to the race we will experience some road closures on April 28th.

Beautification Commission Bowling Fundraiser

The Beautification Commission will he hosting a bowling fundraiser for the Waterfront Park Sculpture on Saturday, May 19 from noon to 4PM at Total Sports. Pre-Tickets are $25.00 and include 3 games, shoes, pizza, refreshments and prizes. Tickets are for sale at our offices and can be purchased by cash or check.
